About
Hi there! Thanks for looking at my site. Here's a short little blurb to get to know me a little bit better.
I'm Jacklyn Susanne, but usually go by Susie. I got started in photography several years ago when I received my first point and shoot camera. I ended up enjoying it so much that I eventually upgraded to a Canon Powershot camera; which I absolutely loved. Up until this point, photography was just a hobby and a way to capture memories for me. Shortly after giving birth to my daughter Cleo, I became good friends with Jaime Bullen (http://www.jaimebullen.com) who has been an avid photographer, both professionally and as a hobby, for several years now.
After trying out Jaime's digital SLR, I absolutely fell in love all over again. After that, I very quickly made the transition to the digital SLR world by purchasing a Nikon D60. Every new parent ends up being a little shutter happy with their child, but I was obsessed! I learned quickly by capturing moments with Cleo, as well as friends and family. Soon enough people started to notice that I had a creative knack for photography. I was asked by friends and family to take pictures of them, which I was only too happy to do! As with most photographers, I ended up starting to transition to wedding photography and was able to start to see the professional side of my passion. Only two years after the purchase of my first digital SLR I have taken well over 50,000 (according to my photo library) photographs of various things, including several weddings.
To put it simply; freezing a priceless moment in time through photography is my passion.
I do actually have other interests other then photography, however a lot of the time they actually end up involving photography. I grew up in beautiful St. Peter's, Nova Scotia and that gave me a great love for the outdoors and appreciation for nature. This could be one of the main reasons for my love affair with photography. I also love getting away from it all and camping, hiking, or even just sitting outside for the sake of being outside. I also love reading and read everything from classic novels to books from the recent pop-literature movement such as Twilight.
So here I am shooting weddings, engagement photo's on a fairly regular basis at this point. Kenny Webster is both my boyfriend and a lot of this helping me out a lot with the technical side of things (ie this site!) as well as playing the role of assistant and second photographer when the need arises. While quite talented (you can see some examples of his work in the portfolio section), his full time job is working with aerial photography and satellite imagery.
