This post is somewhat belated.  Back in Feburary we travelled to Jamaica with the rest of my family for my little brother's wedding.  We photographed their engagement last year (see a few posts down).  As part of the package they got with the resort, a photographer was included and they weren't permitted to use any photographer other then the one the resort provided (another way to make more money) so we were not the primarily photographer (though we did sneak a few in anyway).

 

Those who regular follow Susie on facebook probably have seen most of these, but some have some new edits done to them.  I thought it might be nice to share some of them on this site.  It was a fantastic trip and congratulations again to my brother and new sister-in-law!

It's been awhile since the last update, and we apologize for that.  However, spring is here and there's lots of exciting new news to share!

 

We've just ordered some brand new equipment.  Basically it's the start to building a studio.   2 Flashpoint 320M strobes with stands and 24x36" softboxes.  A background stand and triggering system and that's just to start!  Once we get this equipment we're going to be moving (we're in the process of looking right now) to a place that has a space where we can set it up.  This opens up all kinds of exciting new oppertunities for shoots.

 

We decided to go ahead a get this equipment well in advance of what we were originally planning because of an increased demand for photo booths at weddings.  This is something where guests can come up throughout the night and have their photo's taken.  Of course, after the wine comes out and we add some props that we'll bring along - these photo's will of course be pricessless and worth a lot of laughs I'm sure!

 

We're also making a slight change to our package prices.  As it is right now, any base package can have a second added shooter for a 250$ charge.  Since having a photo booth at a wedding requires two shooters, we are going revamp our package selection to include two shooters!  This allows us to provide you with a better value in the long run (for example, a 3 hour wedding package with a second shooter has an additional 250$ cost, where as an unlimited package would also have that same 250$ cost).

 

The best part about this new change?  Well some may say, hey I get the best possible coverage of my wedding now with a photo booth no matter what.  Other's may say that they're getting an awesome bang for their buck this way.  But the best part is actually that we will not be changing the prices of the packages until June!

 

So that means that if you are still trying to decide on a photographer for you wedding and you book between now and May 31st you will get an additional photographer in addition to what's listed in the package for free! This means that both the bride and groom can be covered during the preparation stage, you can get multiple views of the same moments during the wedding, photo booth at the dinner/reception among other important benefts!

Jaime and I first started chatting on December 2, 2008 (Jaime, I still have the emails) Jaime had posted an ad Kijiji looking for stay at home moms and young kids to have a play dates (in our area). I was living in Sambro at the time, and Jaime lives in Ketch Harbour. Jaime was and still is a stay at home mom, with a beautiful son Andrew, who was just about to turn 1.  So I replied to ad, telling her I was working part time, and had a soon to be one year old as well, and that I would love a play date. We chatted back in fourth through email, we then upgraded to both msn and Facebook. Jaime and I had a lot in common, and one of the big things was photography. She is a wedding photographer, and is a wonderful one at that.  We first got together at her house, letting the kids play and run around. They seemed to enjoy each other a lot.

 

Since I was working part time and Cleo’s dad was working full time in the city, we were taking Cleo in to her grandmothers. Not long after that Jaime offered to watch Cleo for us, part-time, while I went back to work full-time.  Jaime and I started hanging out more and on weekends we started taking trips to random places to take photos.  We always had a great time and had so much to talk about.  Over this past summer, Jaime introduced me to her husband’s friend Kenny, who they had both gone to school with in The Valley. At the time, both Kenny and I had been in other relationships. When I met Kenny, I knew we had a spark. Within the month of meeting, we both become single and started hanging out.

 

Like Jaime, Kenny also took photos (as must of you know from this website). Our first date was a photography one. That was July 22, 2010. We have been inseparable since then. I can’t picture my life without Kenny, and can’t wait to spend the rest of it with him. I love you! And Jaime, I owe it all to you!  Over the last 2 years, Jaime has been there for me, the good, the bad and the ugly, and there has been a lot of bad and ugly, she has helped me more than anyone I know.  Jaime and Dave are now expecting their second child and I am beyond excited.  The baby is due March 13, 2011. Jaime asked if I could take some maternity shots for her. Here are some of the shots we got. Jaime, I love you more than words could ever describe and I am so happy to be a part of your life. I look forward to many more years together. I love you!

I first met Jay while I was working for Canada Bread in the spring of 2009. Jay and I got along great; we had lots to talk about.  Jay played in a band, so when his band played at the Toothy Moose, myself and some other co-workers attended. I eventually met his girlfriend Tara, who I fell in love with instantly, she is so easy going, down to earth,  beautiful and overall; just a great person. In the summer of 2010 Jay proposed - I was beyond excited for both of them. No one deserved each other more than these two.  They asked me to take some engagement photos for them; I was more than willing to. We headed to Crystal Crescent first and then to the Ketch Harbour wharf, which is where he proposed.  We spent a good 2 hours taking shots. Here are the results. I am beyond happy, as I know they are, with these photos. Enjoy!

It's been a busy last couple of weeks as everything wound down for Christmas and life goes back to normal for another year.  Lots has been happening here at Perfectly Pure Photography including a super cool pregnancy studio shoot Susie did.  For a few examples from that check out the Family Portraits section.  Also have a nice new logo in the works.  Once we have the selection narrowed down a bit the plan is to post them on the facebook page and let everyone share their opinions and ideas about them. So if you haven't liked us yet, get on it and stay tuned for that!

 

Still have some bookings available for the summer too, so if you haven't booked and made a deposit yet contact us right away!

Back in the summer, Kenny and I were at Crystal Crescent Beach, relaxing, taking photos, and enjoying the beautiful weather. A lady came up to me, (who I had noticed earlier, carrying some large camera gear) offered to take our photo.  I was so in love with her camera gear, I know she had to be a professional. I did some research on Kijiji, checking out all the local photographer ads. Eventually, I came across Casey Lee Martin (http://www.caseyleemartin.com) who had made a post on her blog about her recent trip to Crystal Crescent beach with photos she had taken. I knew right away it was her. I contacted her and explained who I was and what I did. I eventually found out that she uses a studio called Prop Unique (http://www.propunique.com/studio.html) to do her photo sessions. I contacted Jennifer, and we set up a date for a Christmas photo shoot.

This was a great studio; it had everything you could ever need for a photo shoot. Lots of room, couch, chair, privacy, a full kitchen, full bath and a room full of props.  We had so much fun, Thanks Jennifer.  I will be booking my next shoot with you.

Here are some shots that were taken that day, December 11, 2010. I have to give credit to my boyfriend Kenny, who took most of these shots, they all turned out so amazing, and I am so happy with them. It’s not easy to photograph a very energetic 3 year old.
